Recently, our partner CDL carried out a BIPOL PT-L Pan&Tilt Pole Camera demonstration for Network Rail's Holgate Depot.
The objective
To inspect their autumn fleet, a series of water containers and water jets used to clear leaves from the tracks. During off-season, these containers must be inspected for corrosion and contaminants.
The issue
As the internal access is particularly confined, any direct human intervention is either impossible or unsafe. In this context, traditional inspections are a challenge. Therefore, BIPOL PT-L pole camera stands out as a suitable, efficient and safe solution.
A tailored solution for confined spaces.
Designed for complex industrial environments, the PT-L pole camera stands out for:
- A carbon fibre extendable pole ranging from 1.3 to 5 metres. Quick deployment in just a few minutes.
- A 360° motorised Pan & Tilt camera for complete coverage of the inspected area.
- An interchangeable white LED lighting or infrared lighting, depending on requirements.
- A 7" high-resolution touch screen for optimal image feedback

With these features, maintenance teams can now perform quick, safe, and precise inspections without having to enter confined spaces.
For Network Rail, this means a significant time saving and a reduction in risks for operators. The quality of inspection is also enhanced. These are three essential factors in managing railway safety.
